Not as nice since they renovated but still a great store.
I was just sitting here thinking and I just realized that I have not set foot into the Mardels here in Independence since they redid their store. I used to love going to this location. It was welcoming and had a great feel about the place. As a merchandiser, I understand why they made the change that they did. It was to boost sales, but at what cost? You have to run a store, but you also have to keep your store welcoming and make customers feel good about coming to your store. If it's all about selling things, well we can just buy it all online and never have to leave our house. That is the point of creating a welcoming environment. You want people to come to your store. To bad for Mardels, I most likely will never return to their store. I would go there with my wife all the time, because I liked the feel of the store, but now I don't go. It is no longer a store I want to go to. I hope that one day, the management will realize their mistake and change the store back, but till then, it's all online shopping for me.
