We bought our wedding rings here and today my ring literally disintegrated. I bought a Tungsten ring under the impression it was "indestructible" at least that's the BS I was told when we bought it. Believe me these rings are the equivalent of a quarter machine plastic ring, no joke. I was in a public bathroom and washed my hands, of course no paper towels. So as I was shaking my hand's trying to dry them, the ring slipped off and hit the floor. It broke into FOUR pieces. I know what you're thinking, bad luck, bad metal bond, etc etc. NO to my surprise the salesman says "happens all the time, next time drop it on something soft". That's right, my ring fell on a bathroom floor and broke into pieces. That's what you get for a $400 ring from Kay's. Don't worry though, they offer a replacement for $25!!!! And you only have to wait two months to get it! Wow, what a deal! Don't buy a TUNGSTEN RING EVER...........DON'T SHOP AT KAY'S. It's basically the equivalent of glass.
I recently moved here and went to this Kay's...NEVER again. Terrible customer service. If you decide you do not want to buy something, you can be sure that Karen will continue to try and convince you no matter how many times you tell her no. Then when she finally gives up, she'll tell you you're missing the best price while shaking her head and walking away. I'm not sure of the older lady helping her (Lisa comes to mind) but she was almost as bad and kept interrupting me. I called about my ring a week later and she was extremely rude when I asked her if she would check on it. I have never experienced this kind of customer service at any other Kay's I have been to and I will never go back to this one. I understand that you are in a sales position and you make commission, but I should not have to tell you any more than once or twice before you get the hint, much less upwards of ten times.
********WARNING********WARNING*********
My husband had bought 2 stones while serving overseas. We had heard good things about this particular Kay's prior to getting engaged. We went to the store to pick out rings and before we purchased anything we asked what exactly the warranty covered. We were told multiple times by both Ramone and Sarah that the warranty covered everything including the stones even though the stones weren't purchased through them. So we bought the warranty believing them. When we got our rings back my engagement ring stone had a crack all the way through the stone that was not there when we purchased our rings. We took them back and were given the run around about nothing being wrong with my stone until we went to Jared's which is where Kay's sends all their jewelery to and were told that Jared's had emailed and called Kay's prior to setting my stone about what to do. We never received a call or an email in regards to my stone. We went directly back to Kay's with that information and low and behold their own employees physically handed us emails from Jared's backing up Jared's story. They than replaced my stone for free after "magically" and suddenly seeing the crack we were talking about. A few months later the stone in my other ring fell out of the setting. I took it in to get it repaired and was accused of ripping out the the stone. None of the prongs were bent or broken. They agreed to fix it at no cost. A month after we got married, a prong on my wedding ring broke. Took it in to get it fixed and told them to also fix the soldering because there was and still is a very obvious u shape because my engagement ring was a size smaller than the wedding bands. The u shape is still there and the ring came back with a fixed prong however it no longer fit past my first knuckle. Took it back to get it fixed again and was told by Ramone that it didn't fit because I had gained too much weight. A person does not gain that much weight in a 2 week period. Took my rings in to get cleaned and told Ramone that my one stone was loose and asked if they could tighten the prongs. He looked at me said the stone wasn't going anywhere. Took it to another jewelery store where the jeweler straight told me that my stone was loose and the prongs needed to be tightened. Went straight back to Ramone with that information and he back tracked to saying that yeah the stone was loose but didn't need fixed. A month after that the stone fell out and again I was accused of ripping out the stone. The prongs were still not bent or broken. This time I was told after being in the store 5 minutes that mall security was going to be called if I didn't leave. All because I asked them to honor their warranty and fix my ring properly and it's a ring that I've worn mabe 10-15 times in the past 4 years. My wedding ring now has another broken prong. Do not buy jewelery from Kay's at all!!!!!!! If we knew than what we know now we would have gone to another jewelery store and to a more reputable company. Kay's Jewelers is a rip off and the Kay's Jewelers in the Independence center Mall in Independence Missouri really needs to clean house and hire a brand new staff who actually have customer service skills.
I have done business with this Kay's location for over 10 years and have never had a problem. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. No complaints here!! Thank you.
