Very peaceful message. Jesus Christ centered message. The downstairs has a cute pioneer play area for the kids.
This LDS Church owned visitors' center covers the historical events from the mid-1800s when Mormons were building a community in the area before pushing westward. Independence is an important site for Mormon theology as well, although most of the focus is on the historical events. It's not a very large center but the missionaries are attentive and willing to share emotional experiences about their church's and their own personal perspectives on the relevance of the events in the area. All visitors are welcome and although the center clearly has the intent of offering opportunities to proselytize, the staff isn't overbearing about it.
Very interesting. Enjoyed learning more about the history of the area. The staff was very helpful and very kind. Took us about two hours to visit.
Love this place. Everyone makes you feel welcome. I learned so much!
This is a beautiful building with such a peaceful feeling. Area history and faith based tours available. The missionaries here are so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They show videos and have a children's play area too! This is a great place to go to on a hot day.
